PRASAD Eye Care Programs, India

Tansa Valley, India—Cataract-related blindness accounts for 80 percent of all visual impairments in India. Loss of vision can lead to complete financial and physical dependence, and it can affect personal relationships. Those who suffer from cataracts often endure lives of loneliness and darkness. In the Tansa Valley, many of those suffering from cataracts are illiterate and cannot afford transportation to an eye care facility. Most cannot afford corrective surgery; many do not even know that their blindness is curable.

In the early 1990′s, PRASAD Chikitsa began holding free eye camps in the Tansa Valley, and later established the PRASAD Netraprakash Eye Clinic. In August 2003, we expanded the Clinic into the Gurudev Siddha Peeth Netra Chikitsa Hospital in order to offer more comprehensive care to the growing number of patients. Learn More…
